Why is it better to clean with microfiber cloths instead of cotton or paper towels? As shown in the figure below, each individual fiber is split length-wise into a star shape to increase its surface area available to pick up dirt and germs. If you run your hand over a dry microfiber cloth your skin will catch on it because of the split fibers. There are also approximately 200,000 fibers for every square inch of the cloth. Due to these two factors, the cleaning ability is dramatically better and more hygienic than traditional methods.
